- Lexile: 740L
- Author/Publisher: The National WWII Museum New Orleans
- This will be independ research for the students. They will use the information given on this website to create functions and graphs for their final project
- This source is very reliable, because it is part of museum, which generally has good statistics. The information is recent and trust worthy. The purpose of this website is for people to go to if they want to find information about the museum or what is in it. It is a resource for teachers as well as students. This information does not have a bias because it is purely informational. It is very appropriate for the unit because it allows students to see the numbers involved in WWII.

- This will be independent research for the students. They will use the information given on this website (or the one above) to create functions and graphs for their final project.
- This source is reliable because the author is a Historian and previously was a history teacher. This information is fairly recent so it should be fine to use. The purpose of this website is so that people can look at the statistics and learn more about World War II. There is no bias on this part because it is purely statistics. This information is appropriate because it is giving the students the information they need to create their final project.
- World War II: A Statistical Survey: The Essential Facts and Figures for All the Combatants
- Lexile: Not provided on lexile website
- Author: John Ellis
- This will be an informational text for students to look at to do their final project for the unit. It will give numbers they can use to create functions
- This is a reliable source because he has written many other military histories and is a published author. It was published fairly recently, in 1993, so the information within should still be correct. The original purpose of the text is informational for people who want to know more about the numbers behind WWII. This is appropriate because it is another resource that I am giving the students to use for their end project.
Informational Text #2
- World War II: Stats and Facts
- Lexile: None found online, but similar book by the same author was 1120L
- Author: Peter Darman
- This will be an informational text for students to look at to do their final project for the unit. It will give numbers they can use to create functions.
- This is a reliable source by an author who has been published and written other informational texts. The information is up to date. the original purpose of the text is for information for people who want to know facts and statistics about WWII. There is no bias because it is purely informational with facts. It is appropriate for the unit because I am giving them more information they can choose for when they do their final project.
- Author: History Gems
- This will be an informational video for students to watch as a class. It will show that events in the war, like the Atomic Bomb, will create an increase in deaths, making the population into an exponential decay.
- This is a somewhat reliable source, since it is on youtube and almost anyone can upload there. It seems to be a first hand account, and it gets the point across to students that the atomic bomb had killed many people in the war. The original purpose of the video is for informational purposes. There may be a bias in the telling since it is a first hand account. I think it is appropriate for the unit being taught because it allows students to see first hand an exponential decay rate of a population.
Children's book
- I Will Come Back for You: A family in hiding during World War II
- Lexile: 670L
- Author: Marisabina Russo
- This resource isn't really planned to be used in the class, because it is a childrens book that doesn't relate to the content specifically being taught in my class (exponential functions using WWII data). It will be avaliable for students for further reading on the subject of WWII though.
- This is a reliable source because it is fiction. The original purpose of the text is for chilcren to see what happened during WWII and what other kids had to go through that were their age. The material isn't necessarily appropriate for what I am trying to teach the students, but it is a good book to read if they have extra time. It relates to the WWII unit, but not my specific math unit.

- This resource isn't really planned to be used in the class, because it is a childrens book that doesn't relate to the content specifically being taught in my class (exponential functions using WWII data). It will be avaliable for students for further reading on the subject of WWII though.
- This is a reliable source because it is fiction. The original purpose of the text is for young adults to read for pleasure and to see what a hypothetical town would be like during WWII. It is about death following around a girl who is living during this time period. The material isn't necessarily appropriate for what I am trying to teach the students, but it is a good book to read if they have extra time. It relates to the WWII unit, but not my specific math unit.

- This is a reliable source since it is fiction. The original purpose of this text is for young adults to read what it could have been like to live during WWII. It tells the story of a young orphan living in Poland. The material isn't necessarily appropriate for what I am trying to teach the students, but it is a good book to read if they have extra time. It relates to the WWII unit, but not my specific math unit.
Technology
I plan on using technology in my classroom for this project for researching, graphing, collecting data, and presenting information. My student's end product for this Unit is a presentation representing the changes of different quantites during World War II. Students will be learning how to take data and create an exponential function representing the changes. They will specifically be looking at the time during World War II and seeing how it had effected the people in the world, by death rates, financial changes, food, and many other things.

Final Project
Students will be given a rubric explaining what is expected of them, as well as a verbal description.
They will be told that they are going to be creating a presentation with a partner that will show an exponential function relating information found during research time. They will explain aspects of the graph, give the function, show the graph, and have research backing up their information.

Evaluation of the Unit plan
I think that I did the best that I could do given the content that I teach. It is hard to find books that will go with the content you are teaching, especially when it is higher level like statistics. The childrens books were really hard to relate to my content, but with what I was teaching I did the best that I could. My unit plan reflects theknowledge I have gained in this class, using active learning activities to better the learning of my students, and using literacy in my classroom. I would like to refine my unit in the future by finding more books that would go better with the content. My team worked very well together, we planned everything as a group and did all of that part first and then broke off into individual parts to do our own parts of the project. We worked together and collaborated when trying to do the group parts and ended up getting everything done very fast.
